Jewish cemetery
It was established around 1588. It was the burial place for Jews from Oswiecim and its vicinity. The cemetery was turned into a forced labour camp in 1941. Tombstones were used to pave streets and, in the area of the graveyard, barracks and water tanks were built. There are resting places for people like Szymon Kluger, the last Jewish resident of Oswiecim, Frajdel – daughter of the famous tzaddik Chaim, and famous rabbi Mosze Jakób Jankiel Scharf. Additionally, there is an ohel built in the 1980s by Ascher J. Scharf. Jewish cemetery can be visited, but the keys must be obtained from the Jewish Center at 5 Priest Jan Skarbek Square.
